Research Description
My dissertation examines the responses of Indians to anti-Indian immigration legislation in South Africa and Canada in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. In particular, I focus on the ways in which transnational circulation of print culture created a shared discourse of imperial citizenship that Indians throughout the British Empire used to claim rights of free migration.
